Admissions is in charge of coordinating patients’ admissions and discharges at Hospital Clinica Biblica and the respective information management for preparing hospital patient files. The primary general services include:
- Patient admission
- Customer information
- Preparation of files
For the process of admission you will have to follow this procedure:
- Show doctor’s hospitalization order and identification document, residence document or passport to facilitate verification of personal information.
- Make an advance payment for permanence in the Hospital, which is done in the Bank of Costa Rica, located in the first level of the main floor of the Hospital, to the account of the Association of Costa Rican Medical Services [Asociación de Servicios Médicos Costarricenses].
- The patient will be given an identification bracelet with his name, identification number, date of birth, room number, name of the doctor in charge and number of service order. All this information is necessary for your safety and for that of the Hospital personnel; it has the intention of always being able to positively identify you. The bracelet must be placed on the right wrist and it must be worn at all times during the stay. Upon discharge, the area nurse is the only one who authorizes the removal of the same.
Informed Consent
The patient has the right to be informed about his/her health condition, about the treatment proposal and alternative therapies, the risks and probability of adverse results in order to make a decision with regard to the procedure he/she will undergo.
This obligation to inform the patient on the risks of the treatment is called an “informed consent” and it is a written document that must be understood and signed before every procedure a patient will undergo, regardless of its magnitude. Special attention must be given to any invasive procedure, except in cases of emergency or unconsciousness, in which cases the health professionals will always try to intervene so that the patient’s health is re-established as safely as possible.
This document releases the treating health personnel from all responsibility for predictable consequences but not from neglect, unskillfulness, malpractice or failure to observe their duties and obligations.
