Steps for Appropriate Care
Influenza A H1N1
- If you have flu symptoms please go directly to the Respiratory Isolation Area located on the first floor of the Cabezas-Lopez Building next to the Urgent Care Department.
- Once in the Respiratory Isolation Room a thorough evaluation will determine your complication risk as well as the plan for treatment and follow-up.
- If you need to be hospitalized you will be admitted to the Hospital Isolation Ward or will be transferred to your assigned public hospital.
- If you are required to have home isolation you will be provided with all the necessary recommendations.
- If it is determined that you need antiviral medication, you will be given a prescription to initiate the appropriate therapy.
- Antiviral therapy is without cost to the patient due to recent stipulations of care dictated by the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica. Oseltamivir is available in most public and private pharmacies of the country.
