Located on the fourth floor of the Cabezas Building, this unit has 8 beds, state-of-the-art equipment and a highly qualified staff for providing the following services:
Continuous Monitoring
This is used for patients with cardiac diagnoses, older adults with aggregate illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension and electrolyte disorders (very high or very low potassium and sodium) or after neurosurgery.
An oxygen saturator is placed in the patient’s thumb and electrodes on the patient’s chest for monitoring any special event that may occur.
Telemetry
This allows the patient to move about and take care of most of his or her activities while being centrally monitored from the nurses’ station.
The procedure is performed for patients with cardiac arrhythmia problems and patients not limited to strict bed rest.
Hemodialysis
Two sets of equipment are available for chronic patients for purifying blood and eliminating wastes, and one set of hemofiltration equipment is available for patients in acute phases of renal insufficiency while hospitalized for some other complication.
