We are located on the fifth floor of the Cabezas López Building and have large private rooms decorated with tasteful birthing motifs where you’ll feel comfortable and safe. Each room has an electric bed that adapts to your comfort needs, private bath, a bed for a companion and cable TV.
You also have a telephone and a buzzer for calling the nursing staff any time you need to, and a chair or armchair will be made available to make it easy for you to breastfeed.
Maternity Service
In an ongoing effort to provide the Costa Rican community with top quality health services, the Hospital Clínica Bíblica is constantly improving its facilities and services for the expecting family.
Patients receive care in an exclusive area containing the full service individual rooms, independent delivery rooms, and monitoring rooms for single and multiple pregnancies.
Labor
After admission to the Maternity Department, you and your companions will be located in a private room where all the necessary procedures will be carried out.
The entire time you are in labor you will be under the care of an obstetric nurse who will assess your condition on a regular basis, monitoring the baby’s heartbeat, uterine contractions, dilation and other cervical conditions.
Delivery Rooms Equipped with the Latest Technology
- Electric bed. This provides different positions making delivery more comfortable (propped up or sitting).
- Open incubator. This maintains ideal ambient heat for your baby while immediate care is given. It is also equipped to provide special attention if neonatal resuscitation is needed or for any complication your baby may have.
- Fetal monitor. Your baby’s heart is constantly monitored throughout labor and during delivery. This is audible for the future mother and the professional team.
- Music. This will help you relax. You can choose the music you wish to listen to at such a special moment.
- Air conditioning. This keeps the temperature pleasant and is turned off when your baby is born in order to provide a warmer atmosphere for your newborn.
Shared Room. Maternal and Paternal Bonding.
Our primary interest is to encourage maternal and paternal bonding. Your baby is brought to you immediately after birth in the case of a Caesarean. The father will be in charge of providing the baby with warmth and initiating stimulation of the newborn through skin-on-skin contact until the mother arrives in the room, when breastfeeding will begin.
The infant will stay in the room with its parents 24 hours a day. This will help them feel more confident and secure before going home.
