Phototherapy
For infants with neonatal jaundice we have a Neonatal Ward available 24 hours a day for providing the necessary treatment.
If you wish to stay with your baby all day and all night, you have the option of using phototherapy in a private room.
We have an excellent clinical laboratory for the control of bilirubins, as well as many other tests.
Neonatal Special Care Ward
We have a special area equipped with leading-edge technology – neonatal ventilator, neonatal CPAP, neonatal monitors, etc. – that provides special care in the case of neonatal complications.
In this area the newborn baby will be stabilized for as long as it takes before being moved to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in another hospital.
Breastfeeding Clinic
In order to stay in line with both national and international statutes on promoting and encouraging breastfeeding, we have created the country’s first private Breastfeeding Clinic, which provides new mothers with training, support and guidance by telephone, or with individual attention or group sessions. In the group sessions, given once a week, patients have the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences. This project has the support of an interdisciplinary team making up the Breastfeeding Committee, which consists of a pediatrician, nutritionist, gynecologist, social worker and obstetric nurses.
This Clinic is located in the Maternity Ward and is attended to by obstetric nurses.
Vaccinations
Before leaving the institution, your baby will receive vaccinations against tuberculosis (BCG) and hepatitis B. For later follow-up on the vaccine regime, your baby will receive DPT, DT, polio and other vaccines in the Emergency Ward of the Hospital Clínica Bíblica.
Remember that the heel prick test should be done in your baby’s first week (ideally on the fourth day). It is free of charge and done in the clinical laboratory from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
