A summary of our history
In 1968, the Latin American Mission decided to leave the Clinic in Costa Rican hands; this resulted in the establishment of the Asociación de Servicios Médicos Costarricenses (ASEMECO), which took charge of administering the Hospital.
The members of the Board of Directors, Councils and Commissions work ad honorem, because this is a non-profit institution whose mission is to use the economic resources generated by Clínica Bíblica for social aid actions to benefit different sectors of those most in need.

What is the Integral Health Program?
The Integral Health Program aims to provide health care services with a modern approach to low-income people, not based on the old concept of health as “absence of disease” but as vision of health from an integral bio-psycho-social perspective
It relies on an inter-disciplinary team, with social workers, doctors, dental assistants and dentists, many of whom work free of charge.
The work is done in external consultation by the Department of Social Action at the facilities of Clínica Bíblica. Also, there are interventions in areas of priority care (marginal communities), mainly in the area of dental care, with emphasis on the child population.
In answer to the needs of rural zones, integral care pilot projects have been prepared to promote the self-development of the community.
How does ASEMECO use its income?
It dedicates one part to renew and acquire equipment so the Hospital continues at the forefront of technology; another portion is destined to physical infrastructure improvement and maintenance to offer comfort and security to our customers. The rest is for to Social Action Programs.
