In today´s world, with the enormous scientific development of all specialties, the interrelation of sports medicine as a science is more and more necessary.
Sports Medicine is a young medical specialty, but which has acquired an enormous importance, due to the relevant role it plays acting as an important tool in the control of sports training, the development of functional and morphological capabilities of athletes, in the prevention and rehabilitation of sports traumas, in the educational work oriented towards the strengthening of hygiene and nutritional habits, anti-doping, sexual education and in the detection and development of sports talents. All of this guarantees the improvement of health indicators of athletes and the increase of sports results.
Sports Medicine has renewed its important role, its actions becoming more and more necessary in health fields, conducting and counselling physical activity programs for the different health status groups of the population. It assumes a decisive role in education, promotion, prevention, healing and rehabilitation of degenerative chronic illnesses.
Aerobic physical exercise is part of the strategy that seeks a healthy lifestyle and collaborates in the combat of non-transmissible chronic illnesses, often present in today´s world. The practice of physical activities is today a very important component in the conquest of good health indicators, giving way to increased longevity and good life quality. Increasingly, health and sports concepts should go hand in hand for the achievement of the aforementioned health indicators.
