The medical oncology specialist is responsible for diagnosing, treating and providing a prognosis to cancer patients. He/she has the capacity to approach the patient from the moment the symptoms first show up, until the final stage of the disease, keeping the patient, their family and environment at the core. In addition, he/she has the ability to identify within the healthy population, those with more risk factors for cancer.
This is especially important for the implementation of prevention measures. He/she is the chemotherapy specialist and addresses the patient in an integral way along with other specialties such as: surgery and radiotherapy, among others.
