Dermatology

The specialty in dermatology comprises all the diseases of the hair, skin, oral mucosa and nails. It includes a complete check-up of the skin in children and adults, mole mapping, early skin cancer detection, medical and surgical treatment of diseases in the nails, and the treatment of chronic ulcers and burns. Early skin cancer detection includes a medical check-up with a complete skin appointment as prevention, dermatoscopy, biopsies and surgical removal of moles and malignant lesions. The Clínica Bíblica Hospital is the only hospital in Central America with a Confocal Microscopy device. It is a computerized system using laser rays, which allows for the observation of all the first skin layers, evaluating each cell and distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions, without the need of biopsy. The specialty also includes cosmetic dermatology: wrinkles, scars, spots on the skin, capillaries, stretch marks, acne, and facial rejuvenation. It includes treatments that go from facial cleansing and moisturizing, microdermabrasion, and chemical peelings, to the most advanced laser technologies, Botox and fillings.
