Critical Care Units (Intensive Care)

The critical care units are specialized units, built and adequately equipped for the care of critically ill patients, providing a high technological level with specially trained personnel.

Location:

We are located in the Cabezas López building, fourth floor.

Intensive and Coronary Care Units

This unit of specialized services treats acute coronary and cardiovascular events. It has an adequate infrastructure to handle patients in a critically ill state. It attends patients with acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina, hypertension, arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency, pulmonary edema, syncope, aortic dissections and a great number of cardiovascular conditions among other cases.

It is a highly specialized service in two areas of attention: intensive and coronary. It consists of eight individual units, equipped with the latest technology, strategically placed in such a way that the rooms can be observed from the nurses´ station. The nurses have a 360 degree view of all the rooms at the same time. Each individual cubicle has the appropriate dimensions so that the medical and nursing staff can work around the patient, circling without difficulty in case of emergency.

There are mechanical ventilators of the latest technology and an individual telemetric monitoring system with a central screen to monitor all patients from the nursing station.

The individual beds of each patient are equipped with comfort and therapeutic devices to allow a full sitting position and a daily control of the patient´s weight.

Moreover, there are two isolation cubicles with isolating doors and airflow and filtering systems which flow to the outside, avoiding the contamination of other units in the intensive and coronary care unit.

Coronary Care Units

This is a special area within the intensive care unit with all the necessary technological equipment for the care of the critical cardiological patient. From dispositives which support the hemodynamic part within the unit or portable ultrasound equipment which allows for rapid and accurate diagnoses to the adequate monitoring not only at the bedside of the patient but also at the central level.

The medical team is highly qualified and trained to handle patients with serious and critical cardiological conditions. Each room is designed with space to allow us great mobility and offers the patient privacy and a degree of acceptable comfort to cope with the first day or days of his condition until he is stabilized and can leave the unit.
