Learn about the new face-lifting techniques

San José, Costa Rica. June, 2015.

Face lifting

If you have been thinking of undergoing a facelift procedure, this is the opportunity to learn more about this.

A facelift is a set of treatments that seeks to re-establish the conditions of vitality and freshness of the skin, contributing substances that are lacking or else, stimulating the creation of the collagen necessary to rejuvenate it.

Before submitting to a treatment of this kind, it is important to perform an adequate diagnosis which establishes which should be the area to be treated or else the depth with which the skin lesions or deficiencies should be corrected.

According to Dr. Guillermo Cortés Antia, Dermatologist of the Clínica Bíblica Hospital, one must consider certain factors such as age, the skin condition expressed by spots, wrinkles, photo aging, sagging, precancerous lesions due to sun exposure, loss of fat and diseases present that should be corrected before considering performing the procedure.

In our country, there are common face-lifting techniques such as those that use botulinum toxin, facial fillers, lasers, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, microdermabrasion with a diamond-tipped or fractional needle, deep moisturizing and facial mesotherapy.

However, today more modern techniques exist that combine the benefits of the hyperbaric medicine with techniques such as the fractional microdermabrasion.

“At the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit of the Clínica Bíblica Hospital, we have joined efforts to establish this modern and novel treatment for face-lifting. This new technique allows the stimulation of the production of collagen and stimulates skin regeneration eliminating superficial blemishes such as scars and small wrinkles, showing very good results in a short time”, commented Cortés.

Additionally, this procedure includes applying plasma, rich in platelet-rich plasma (PRP), on areas of face, neck and hands, which are the areas notoriously more affected by the sun.

Painless and quick.

This new treatment is ambulatory; it requires an approximate time of two to two and a half hours to be performed. Also, the procedure is completely painless and actually, its effect produces a feeling of comfort and well-being for the patient.

There are no important contraindications for this type of procedures, although, each particular case should always be studied.

What is fully guaranteed is that in the very short term, the results on the skin can be observed, like for example, the elimination of superficial scars, the recovery of elasticity, the brightness, firmness and hydration of the skin.

Dr. Cortés will offer this Thursday May 14 at 2:00 p.m., a free lecture denominated “New face-lifting techniques”, which will take place at the auditorium of the Clínica Bíblica Hospital.
