The Clínica Bíblica Hospital will test its coordination mechanisms and response procedures, and also puts in practice emergency plans of the public-private workplaces, as well as the management of public spaces, in a seismic event in the urban area of San José.
As part of its responsibility of overseeing for the welfare of patients and collaborators, the Clínica Bíblica Hospital will participate next September 3rd in an evacuation simulation together with the Municipality of San Jose and the National Emergency Commission.
“This year, the emergency simulation will take place under the assumption of an earthquake, which derives into the need to evacuate part of the buildings. This event will allow us to test the ability of response of the internal emergency brigade and the internal support groups of the Hospital; the inter-hospital coordination in the face of disasters, management of local crisis and internal management before situations of logistics of facilities and security in general”, concluded Alvarado.
This is the first time that a simulation will be performed in the urban area of the canton of San Jose, which will mobilize nearly 60 thousand people in some 90 buildings of public institutions, this medical center being the only private hospital to participate.
The activity will take place in all the buildings of the Clínica Bíblica Hospital, located in the province of San Jose. The supposed victims will be rescued by the emergency brigade, to be transferred afterwards to the Victims Concentration Area, which will be located in Emergencies, where the medical and nursing team will perform stabilization procedures of the people injured due to the earthquake.
This is the fifth consecutive time in which the Clínica Bíblica Hospital performs an emergency simulation, also including the evacuation of staff, a series of exercises that involve the emergency brigade, the medical area, the nursing area and security.
The simulation at the hospital is planned to take 90 minutes and will begin when the command is assumed by the rescue team who is going to participate, until the culmination when the post-incident analysis is performed.
With regard to the transit of vehicles, everything has been thought out so that the clients and patients of the Hospital can access normally the Parking Tower, through avenida 6, which will have a regulated passage.
The consultations and emergency service will work normally and the patients will be informed so that they can be aware of the event.
