HCB the best in Central America

In our region, the Clínica Bíblica Hospital is the only one that was admitted into this ranking, thus highlighting the diversity of the offer of medical services it provides, hospital health services where the quality, efficiency, innovation, scientific research, reputation, security and dignity of the patient, stand out.

The ranking of “América Economía” that is carried out since 2009 has been consolidated as one that intends to make an assessment based on a set of variables and indicators of the elements that configure the hospital quality standards in Latin America.

Any highly complex hospital, clinic or public or private university that provides multiple services in a wide range of medical specialties and that has been mentioned as a reference by the Health Ministries of Latin America,  may participate. In total, more than 200 entities of those countries were contemplated.

What does the ranking measure?

The ranking assesses six dimensions:

  1. Security and Dignity of the Patient (25%): indicators of processes and results that allow minimizing hospital risks and transparency.
  2. Human Capital (25%): takes into account the analysis of the medical, nursing and hospital governance staff.
  3. Capacity (20%): indicators of the number of discharges, beds, medical specialties and sub-specialties, lab tests, surgeries, etc., as well as investments.
  4. Knowledge Management (10%): indicators that allow measuring the capability of generating, obtaining and disseminating the medical knowledge in the entity.
  5. Efficiency (10%): considers medical efficiency variables, such as occupation rates of beds and ORs, financial efficiency (balance and statements of result) and the mechanisms of quality assurance.
  6. Prestige (10%): takes into account, through surveys, the opinion of the physicians of the participating hospitals and of the readers of “América Economía” subscribed to the web portal, and the milestones, achievements and strategic alliances achieved by the entities.

With regard to the high hospital quality of the institutions associated with the growth of health in the region, it points out that “each country has its own health regulatory and insurance context, but it is possible to say that we are presently living at a time when the provision of hospital services in the region is the best, in relative terms of its history.”
